Money, explained
with clarityevidencenumbershonestycontextmaths.
An independent, research-led personal finance publication. The questions people actually lose sleep over — answered with modelled numbers, sourced data and the working left in the open.
The story
Money decisions, settled by arithmetic — not opinion.
DAILY YIELD exists because most money content fails in one of two directions: it is either too technical to act on, or too shallow to trust. This journal was built in the gap between them — technical enough to be right, plain enough to be useful before you finish your coffee.
Every report begins with a decision a real person is facing — buy, wait or refinance; avalanche or snowball; index funds or dividends — and ends with a step that can be taken this week. In between sits the part almost nobody else publishes: the working. Assumptions are stated. Timeframes are declared. Loan sizes, rates, tax drag and inflation are applied rather than waved away.
And when the arithmetic contradicts the popular advice, the arithmetic gets printed. No hype, no product pitches — just the working, in the open.

Mission & vision.
To be the definitive guide to smart money and financial freedom — turning personal finance, investing and economic trends into simple daily steps that build real wealth, create genuine income streams, and end dependence on a nine-to-five.
every report is a step on that road

trusted first, read first — in that order
The readers
Who we write for.
Coverage
What we write about.
Housing & Mortgages
Rent versus buy arithmetic, fixed-rate expiries and SVR exposure, remortgage checklists, and rate cycles read across the US, UK, Europe, Australia and India.
Debt Strategy
Avalanche and snowball tested head to head, payoff sequencing, emergency-fund thresholds, and rebuilding from zero at any age.
Investing
Index funds, dividend investing examined honestly, real portfolio audits, net-worth milestones by age, and the myths that quietly erode returns.
Money Systems
Budgeting that survives real life, automation, expense cutting, and small habits engineered to compound without willpower.
Economy & Cost of Living
Inflation, wage reality, standard-of-living erosion, and why a six-figure income no longer feels like wealth.
Passive Income
Online income streams and side hustles assessed for genuine cash flow — and the ones that produce passive losses instead.
AI, Fintech & Markets
How artificial intelligence is reshaping capital and household money, plus major IPO and market developments as they break.
Financial Freedom
The long game — wealth building, money mindset, and a credible route out of the nine-to-five.
House rules
How every report is built.
Question first, answer second
Every piece starts from something a real person actually asked — never from what's trending.
Show the arithmetic
Assumptions in the open, workings on the table. If you disagree with a number, you can see exactly where to.
Trade-offs, not verdicts
Money is personal. You get the map and the margins — the decision stays yours.
Education, never advice
General awareness only. For decisions that carry risk, a qualified professional who knows your file beats any article.
The journey
Five chapters, one obsession.
Chapter 01 · The spark
A friend's question becomes a spreadsheet
It started with one question over chai — where is my salary actually going? — and one very long spreadsheet. The answer became the first entry in this ledger.
Chapter 02 · The first readers
Strangers start trusting the arithmetic
Friends forwarded the early notes to their families, then strangers wrote in with their own numbers. The journal found its voice: show the working, always.
Chapter 03 · The wider lens
Seven countries, one set of principles
Modelling households across seven countries proved something odd and comforting: currencies change, products change — the arithmetic of patience barely does.
Chapter 04 · Today
Seventeen reports deep, and just warming up
Every report still starts the same way — a real question, an honest spreadsheet, and nothing to sell you. The next chapter is the one you write in: your questions.
Chapter 05 · A wider desk
From reading the working to trying it yourself
The publication now connects its original writing with personal calculators, corporate models, country comparisons, market dashboards, News and the Daily Article. The earlier chapters remain the foundation.
One question. More than one useful lens.
Different questions call for different combinations of reading, calculation and verification.
Read → calculate → check
A home loan, emergency fund or retirement question needs both explanation and arithmetic.
Open the personal desk ↗- Start with a Daily Article article.
- Use the personal calculator with more than one assumption.
- Check lender terms, fees and local rules before deciding.
Understand → model → challenge
A good forecast makes the assumptions visible instead of hiding uncertainty behind a single number.
Open the corporate desk ↗- Use the corporate break-even, cash-flow or appraisal model.
- Try lower sales, slower collections and higher costs.
- Seek appropriate professional review for consequential decisions.
Read → compare → verify
News, market prices and country comparisons answer different questions.
Open the Daily News ↗- Use News for a dated development.
- Compare context in Money Atlas or the markets desk.
- Verify the source and timestamp; do not treat a quote as a trade instruction.
Never miss the report that changes a decision.
Money decisions rarely wait for convenient timing. Bookmark the journal and return to the reading shelves, calculators and newer desks when a question arises. No newsletter service is currently enabled.
